How Woodard & Curran Became More Proactive with Payroll
The big unknown when signing up with a service partner is whether that partnership will be as transformative as you hope. And sometimes, you discover it's actually better than you anticipated.
For Rowena Holden, director of HR programs at Woodard & Curran, life after OneSource Virtual (OSV) is dramatically better.
“It’s not even apples and oranges,” she says. “It’s probably apples and mangoes.”
Before beginning their partnership with OSV, the employee-owned engineering firm’s approach to payroll was largely reactive. Their benefits and time-off teams weren’t aligned, and employees were spending much of their time dealing with retroactive corrections and other time-consuming tasks that could have been handled more thoughtfully or proactively.
A partner that grows with you
That’s changed since partnering with OSV. Without OSV as their partner, Woodard & Curran would have needed three additional full-time employees. Now, however, their partnership with OSV provides the support they need to stay ahead of state, federal, and municipal compliance requirements without the extra expense of additional headcount.
“We really lean heavily on that service to help get us there," Rowena says. "I don't know what we would do without it, quite frankly.”
And as the company expands into new states and acquires new businesses, that support can easily scale to keep pace with their growth.
"You always want a system that can scale up with you. I think we've lucked out there for sure."
